Before Your Procedure

• Avoiding certain medications like blood thinners (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen) and herbal supplements that can increase bleeding.
• Refraining from alcohol and smoking for a specified period before the surgery to promote better healing.
• Washing your hair thoroughly on the morning of the procedure.
• Arranging for transportation home after the procedure, as you may receive a mild sedative.

The Hair Transplant Procedure (FUE or FUT)

Hair transplant procedures are typically performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia, ensuring you are comfortable and relaxed throughout. The duration varies depending on the number of grafts required (4 to 8 hours). Patients can go home the same day.

Procedure Steps:

• Donor Area Preparation: FUE: The donor area (usually the back or sides of the head) is trimmed short.
  FUT: A thin strip of scalp is marked in the donor area.
• Anesthesia: Local anesthesia is administered to numb both the donor and recipient areas, ensuring a pain-free experience.
• Graft Harvesting: FUE Technique: Dr. Kunal Sayani uses a specialized micro-punch tool (0.8-1.0mm in diameter) to meticulously extract individual follicular units (groups of 1-4 hair follicles) directly from the donor area. This method results in tiny, circular excisions that heal as almost undetectable dots, making it suitable for patients who prefer to wear their hair very short. The harvested grafts are carefully collected and preserved in a special solution to maintain their viability.
  FUT Technique (Strip Method): Dr. Kunal Sayani surgically removes a thin strip of scalp tissue containing healthy hair follicles from the donor area. The incision is then closed with sutures, resulting in a linear scar that is typically easily concealed by surrounding hair. Highly skilled technicians then meticulously dissect the strip under high-powered microscopes to separate it into individual follicular units. This method allows for the harvesting of a larger number of grafts in a single session, often with a higher yield of healthy grafts.
• Recipient Area Preparation: Dr. Kunal Sayani meticulously designs the new hairline and marks the recipient areas where the hair will be transplanted. This stage requires significant artistic skill to ensure a natural and aesthetically pleasing outcome.
  Tiny incisions (micro-slits) are then created in the recipient areas using fine blades or needles. The angle, direction, and density of these incisions are crucial for achieving natural-looking hair growth.
• Graft Implantation: The harvested follicular units are carefully placed into the prepared recipient sites.
